Pauline H. Tesler practices law in Marin County, San Francisco, and other Bay Area counties and has been certified as a family law specialist by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization since 1984. After conducting a vigorous divorce litigation practice, she has since 1999 limited her practice to collaborative representation, consultations, mediation, and second opinions. Appointments are available in San Francisco and southern Marin.
A co-founder and first president of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals and co-founder of its journal, The Collaborative Review, Pauline lectures and writes extensively about collaborative law and interdisciplinary team collaborative practice and has conducted more than a hundred trainings for lawyers and other professionals in North America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Israel, Brazil, and South Africa since the early 1990's.
A graduate of Harvard, the University of Manchester (England), and the University of Wisconsin Law School, Pauline is a fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and adjunct faculty in the Straus Dispute Resolution Institute (Pepperdine Law School). Her book Collaborative Divorce: The Revolutionary New Way to Restructure Your Family, Resolve Legal Issues, and Move on with Your Life (co-authored with psychologist Peggy Thompson) is available at Amazon.com.
Pauline has been rated "A-V" by her peers (the national Martindale-Hubbell rating indicating pre-eminence in both quality of legal work and ethics) since 1984. She received the American Bar Association's first "Lawyer as Problem Solver" award in 2002, has been selected as a California "SuperLawyer" annually since 2004, and is included in "Best Lawyers in America."
Pauline has been representing clients in Collaborative Divorce matters since the early 1990's, and is one of the most experienced collaborative lawyers in North America. She values the interdisciplinary team approach to collaborative divorce, which is the most child-friendly and family-friendly approach available anywhere in the world. It provides divorcing couples unparalleled privacy, creativity, and control over outcome, and offers "value-added" services so that you can do the best possible job of separating and, where there are children, co-parenting them well after the divorce. Pauline strongly believes that the best first step when facing divorce is to meet with an experienced collaborative lawyer, who will review your process options with you and help you decide what kind of professional assistance is most likely to help you and your partner achieve a respectful, values-driven, integrity-based divorce.
